For this post, rather than right something smooth and eloquent to capture your attention and paint a beautiful picture about my first couple of days in India, I will present you with a post with absolutely no sentence flow and no real order. This, I believe will accurately portray my time here thus far. But please note, that although it is a serious amount of Chaos, I have already fallen in love and this experience has already changed me for the better immensely!
Exhausted. Crazy driving... like seriously crazy driving! Two lanes on a freeway= room for at least four cars across. Traffic rules consist of honking at other drivers. Very little cash on me + Complete credit card fails= I have no money. Overwhelming amount of motorcycles. Family of five on one moped (frequent occurrence) . Security check at hotel. Total poverty everywhere. Mudhuts. Wild cows everywhere...aka holy cows. Monkeys with rabies. Wild dogs...probably also with rabies. Mostly female volunteers. Beggers at our car door if you stop for more than a second. Henna tattoos all over my arm. Buildings falling down everywhere in contrast to beautiful temples. Beautiful children that call me Auntie Nickel. Amazing but slightly spicy curry. Who needs a plate when you can eat dinner off of a banana leaf? Never ending game of tag with children whose names I cannot pronounce. Wonderful roommates. I am one of the oldest volunteers. Heat and humidity like you've never felt before. Snakes, scorpions and lizards...oh my! Shower and toilet = bucket and hole. Beautiful clothing called chuddidars that we are required to wear. Frequent power surges. And above all ... a whole lotta love!
I'm working on pictures but they are loading super slowly! But hey... I'm just grateful for internet!
